Analysis of related factors for oral health beliefs and oral health related quality of life according to the DISC behavioral style in workers

Abstract
Behavioral styles of human affects on oral health behavior and oral health-related quality of life. This study was aimed to assess the effects of oral health belief on oral health-related quality of life according to DISC behavioral style in workers.
This study was conducted to 337 workers of 2 companies in Gyeongnam Province by using self-administered questionnaire from March to April 2014. The obtaind data were analyzed by performing frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, chi-square test, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis using SAS 9.4 software. The study subjects were 150 males(44.5%) and 187 females(55.5%), and D type was 42 persons(12.5%), I type was 129 persons(38.2%), S type was 105 persons(31.2%) and C type was 61 persons(18.1%). The scores of oral health belief and oral health-related quality of life were 2.96¡¾0.42 and 0.48¡¾0.45, respectively. In regression analyses, sensitivity in oral health belief had significant effect on the oral health-related quality of life of D type (p<0.05), degree of disability had significant effect on I type, severity and degree of disability on S type and severity on C type (p<0.001). Oral health-related quality of life needs to be improved through effective oral health education based on behavioral styles since factors of oral health belief affecting the oral health-related quality of life proved to be different according to behavioral style of workers.
